A scrappy, but entertaining match played in windy conditions saw Southern Combination Football League Division 1 (step 6) side AFC Varndeanians, who were playing their first ever FA Cup tie, upset Crowborough Athletic Athletic of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division (step 5) in front of 155 spectators. The whole team made a telling contribution, but a special mention must go to their defence and goalkeeper for withstanding a second half battering from the hosts who abandoned their long ball game and played much better football after the break.
