Parish Lane, Pease Pottage
2 September 2019

These photos were taken from above the field to the south of Parish Lane, close to the roundabout where it joins the Brighton Road.

Looking north across the Woodgate development that is starting to take shape, with Crawley, Gatwick and the North Downs beyond.

Same view, but from higher up

And higher still. Several town landmarks are visible, including the Broadfield Stadium, the hospital, Crawley College, the Sandman Hotel and the control tower at Gatwick. On the right of the picture, in amongst the trees, is Tilgate Lake.

Looking east down Parish Lane towards Turners Hill. The motorway can be seen towards the left of the photo, cutting its way through Tilgate Forest with Maidenbower tucked up against it.

Looking south east towards Balcombe

Looking south towards Brighton. Billy Bridges yard can be seen on the right

Looking south west towards Southwater area. Billy Bridges yard is in the foreground with the A23 cutting across the middle of the photograph.

Looking west across Pease Pottage. The water tower and radar at Cottesmore are both obvious, as is the A264 skirting the south of Broadfield. Ifield West can just be seen towards the top on the far right, to the right of Kilnwood Vale, and Leith Hill is in the background

Looking north west across Broadfield with Bewbush, Gossops Green and Southgate West beyond. Above Southgate West is the hospital. The green square on the far right is the site of the old Thomas Bennett with the Broadfield Stadium just to the left of it. In the distance, Leith Hill is on the left and Box Hill in the centre.

Back to the starting point, but with a bit of zoom.

A close up of the Woodgate development

That's the composting facility that stinks out Broadfield during the summer on the right.

Looking north east. Tilgate lake is just to the left of centre.

East towards Turners Hill along Parish Lane

South east towards Balcombe. Slaugham water tower can be seen towards the top right of the photo.

South south east towards Haywards Heath

South towards Brighton and the South Downs. Billy Bridges yard on the right.

South south West across Billy Bridges yard. Tilgate Forest row is just behind, before the A23

South west.

West across Pease Pottage, part of which is in sunlight and part in shadow. The water tower and radar at Cottesmore are on the far right.

A slight clockwise turn , looking across towards Cottesmore School, which is just to the left of centre. This picture shows the vale, along which the Crawley to Horsham road and the railway run, well.

Looking north west across Broadfield with Bewbush, Gossops Green and Southgate West beyond. Above Southgate West is the hospital. The woods, just above and left of centre are Woldhurstlee and if you look closely you'll see the phone mast on the top of them. The white rectangle on the very far right is the hospital.

On full zoom, if you follow the hills in the distance from the left, about a fifth of the way across are two white rectangles. These are the tower blocks in Goodwyns Road, Dorking.

Back where we started. I've included this again as the Town Centre and Airport are both in sunlight whilst the rest of the town is in shadow.
