Alfold entered this match knowing that they all but had the title wrapped up, though a point was required to make sure. A defeat, a Steyning win at Littlehampton and a swing of 8 goals between the two teams would see the trophy go to Steyning and, despite a cagey and fairly nervous goalless first half, the outcome never looked in any doubt. Alfold completely dominated the second half without being particularly clinical, but goals in the 55th and 75th minute put them in command. A late goal from the hosts never looked likely to change anything and when the referee blew for full time, the champagne flowed and Alfold were presented with the trophy.
