Newcastle United - St James Park
42 photos and a brief history
St James' Park has been home to Newcastle United since they formed in 1892 and is currently the 7th largest stadium in the Premier League boasting a capacity of 52,350. The ground has undergone many changes over the years, enlarging and shrinking many times despite the objections of local residents, and a row of listed buildings on Leazes Terrace hampering expansion of the East Stand has resulted in the current lopsided configuration, the construction of which commenced in the second half of 1998 and was completed in July 2000. The record attendance at St James' Park stands at 68,386 and was set on 3 September 1930 when Chelsea were the visitors for a First Division match.
