Emirates A380 Emergency
Gatwick Airport
11 July 2023
Plane surrounded by fire engines

If anyone was wondering why it was quiet in the skies for half an hour or so from 8pm this evening, 11 July 2023, this was why. The Emirates A380 was at the western end of the runway surrounded by fire engines having developed hydraulic issues and lost its nose wheel steering forcing a fly around and an emergency landing.

Contrary to my original text, which stated that it had moved off under its own steam, I have since been told that it was eventually tugged back to the gate while the fire engines toddled off back to the firestation.
